Category: Nitride Powder

Nitride is similar to metal in appearance, hardness and conductivity, and generally has high hardness, high melting point, stable chemical properties, and electrical conductivity. Such as titanium nitride, vanadium nitride, zirconium nitride, tantalum nitride, etc. is hard and refractory, and has the characteristics of chemical corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance.

Nitride Powders Uses:

The nitrides formed by the direct combination of IIIA and IVA elements and nitrogen have a covalent structure and are called covalent nitrides. BN is a scale-like hexagonal structure, and its crystal structure and physical and chemical properties are similar to graphite, so it is called “white graphite” or “white carbon black”, with a density of 2.25 g/cm3. It has good heat resistance, corrosion resistance and lubricity, and is non-conductive. It is widely used in electronics, metallurgy, chemical industry and cutting-edge technology.
Tungstenmolybdenummetals material supplier provides different kinds of nitride powder, such as Boron Nitride (BN), Silicon Nitride (Si3N4), Zirconium nitride (ZrN), Aluminum Nitride (AIN), Cerium Nitride (CeN) etc. Send us an email or click on the needed products to send an inquiry.

Titanium Nitride TiN Powder CAS 25583-20-4

 About Titanium Nitride TiN Powder:
Titanium Nitride (TiN) is a very hard ceramic material, usually used as a coating for titanium alloys, steel, carbides and aluminum components to improve the surface properties of the substrate. The Vickers hardness of TiN is 1800-2100, the elastic modulus is 251 GPa, the coefficient of thermal expansion is 9.35×10-6 K-1, and the superconducting transition temperature is 5.6K.

TiN will oxidize at 800°C at normal temperature. TiN is brown and appears golden when it is coated. According to laboratory tests, it is chemically stable at a temperature of 20°C but will be slowly corroded by concentrated acid solutions at high temperatures. Depending on the material and surface finish of the substrate, the friction coefficient between TiN and another TiN is 0.4 to 0.9 TiN surface (unlubricated). The typical TiN formation has a NaCl-type crystal structure with a stoichiometric ratio of about 1:1. However, TiNx compounds with x in the range of 0.6 to 1.2 are thermodynamically stable. Titanium nitride melting point is 2950 degree.

TiN becomes superconducting at low temperatures, and for single crystals, for titanium nitride coating, the critical temperature is as high as 6.0K. The superconductivity in thin-film TiN has been extensively studied, and its superconductivity varies greatly depending on the sample preparation until the superconductivity in the superconductor-insulator transition is completely suppressed. Cooling the TiN film to an absolute value close to zero, converting it into the first known super insulator, suddenly increased the resistance by 100,000 times.

Titanium nitride is a hard ceramic material used as a coating on titanium alloys, steel, carbides and aluminum parts. Because of its golden surface, it can be used for jewelry and high-performance ceramic materials, as well as medical equipment such as scalpels and plastic bone, saw blades. In addition, it is also used as a conductive barrier in microelectronics and electrodes in bioelectronic applications. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Titanium Nitride TiN Powder in bulk.  How is Titanium Nitride TiN Powder produced?
Titanium nitride can be made by directly reacting titanium and nitrogen at 1200°C. The coating can be formed by a vapor deposition method using a mixed gas of titanium tetrachloride, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Titanium dinitride is obtained by heating metallic titanium in nitrogen or ammonia at 900-1000°C. Titanium tetranitride is obtained by heating titanium tetrachloride in ammonia at 1000°C.

Application of Titanium Nitride TiN powder:
Titanium nitride is a hard ceramic material used as a coating on titanium alloys, steel, carbides and aluminum parts. Because of its golden surface, it can be used for jewelry and high-performance ceramic materials, as well as medical equipment such as scalpels and orthopedic bone saw blades. In addition, it is also used as a conductive barrier in microelectronics and electrodes in bioelectronic applications.

TiN is used as a thin coating to harden and protect cutting and sliding surfaces, for decorative purposes (due to its golden appearance), and as a non-toxic exterior for medical implants. In most applications, the applied coating thickness is less than 5 microns (0.00020 inches).

TiN is usually applied to steel, hardened steel and stainless steel materials that require high wear resistance and lubricity. TiN is an essential material for physical vapor deposition coatings and is very suitable for applications that use expensive tools (such as injection molding, sawing, tapping, and molding).

The coating is also used in many medical (implants, surgical instruments, etc.) and food processing applications. TiN can be easily peeled off and can be recoated. Can be stripped and recoated.

Make plastic packaging materials, such as PET bottles.

In the solar vacuum tube, the absorbed sunlight is very large.

The high-temperature furnace is used for energy consumption.

Making artificial limbs, biological materials.

Manufacturing optical equipment in harsh environments.

Used as alloy modifier in cemented carbide.
