Why aluminium carbide has high hardness

What is Aluminium Carbide?
Aluminium carbide also known as aluminum tetracarbide with the molecular formula Al4C3, and is a form of aluminium carbonide. It is a transparent, yellowish brown, transparent rhombic hexagonal crystal. This crystal can also be called an ionic one. At room temperature it doesn’t conduct electricity and has a complex crystal structure. It is possible to have 4,5-6 coordinated metal atoms within the system. The length of Al-C bonds in this system is 1.90-2.22A. The shortest CC bond is 3.16A. The Xray studies show that one carbon atom is present in the structure, in the form of a distinct carbon negative ion C-4. It’s different than acetylene.

Method of synthesizing aluminium carbide
Al4C3 may be prepared by simply combining two simple substances at very high temperatures. Make a mixture with 1 part black smoke and 6 parts heavy aluminium powder. After moistening the mixture, add pine oil to it. Finally, pour a thick layer into a clay bowl and then sprinkle carbon powder over it. You should cover the crucible by a lid and then fill any gaps with refractory or asbestos clay. Place the mixture-filled crucible in an oven for pre drying. For 30 min, heat the mixture to 1200F. You can improve the result by heating it up. Cool the product under cool water to get rid of excess aluminum. Aluminium carbide is a finely crystalline powder that can be washed in water. After this, alcohol should quickly be used to wash away the excess aluminium. At 80 90 degrees, the product can be dried in a drying oven. It contains large amounts of aluminium oxide. The pure aluminium carbide product is inert, however the colours of the products created by this method are often different due to the impurities present in raw materials. Pure aluminium carbide can also be produced if the soot-alluminium mixture is calcined with hydrogen. For 2 h, the calcination should be performed at 1800 – 1900. You must grind the product and then calcine it again at the same temperature.

Principal uses for aluminium carbide
Aluminium carbide is used often to improve the strength and durability of ternary aluminum-based materials (Al-Si AlC or Al Ali AlC). AlC is an important compound for the technical sector of the metal-alluminium industry. It can be used to reduce metal oxides within the metallurgical sector, or chemical reaction catalysts for the chemical industry. Also, it is useful in advanced ceramic materials, such as cutting- and mouldmaking in ceramics. Chemicalbook, an ionic chemical, has carbon atoms that exist as C alone in its lattice structure. C is strong in alkalinity. Hydrolysis produces methane via C+4H–CH. AlC is also a methane dryer and generator. AlC’s rhombic Hexahedron is also a combination of AlC and AlC layers. The unique structure of AlC nanowires makes them a possibility cold electron emitter.

Silicon Carbide, Why Let a Person Love and Hate

What’s Silicon Carbide? Silicon carbide (also known as emery) is made up of quartz, petroleum coke or coal coke and wood chips. There are rare minerals found in Silicon Carbide. The most common and most economically-friendly silicon carbide can be found in contemporary C,N,B and other nonoxide high tech refractory material raw materials. This type is also known as gold, steel sand and refractory. China’s industrial production of Silicon Carbide is currently divided into green and black silicon caride. These are both hexagonal crystals having a specific gravity 3.203.25 and a microhardness 2.8403.320 kg/mm2.

Silicon Carbide

: History and Development American Acheson fused Diamond experiment discovered silicon carbide. He mistakenly thought he had found a diamond combination in his laboratory. Acheson then studied 1893 industrial melting silicon carbide methods. We often refer to Acheson furnace as being in use today. First detected in meteorites was silicon carbide in 1905. The first silicon carbide crystalled was made in 1907. Boston was the site of the inaugural World Silicon Carbide Conference, which took place in 1958 for scientific exchange. The research findings of CREE led to the establishment of a production line for silicon carbide. Suppliers began selling silicon carbide in 1987. Application of silicon carbide

Tungsten Carbide WC Powder Cas 12070-12-1

About Tungsten Carbide WC Powder:
Tungsten carbide is a compound composed of tungsten and carbon, with a molecular formula of WC and a molecular weight of 195.85.The most basic form of tungsten carbide is a fine gray powder, but it can be pressed into shapes through a process called sintering for use in industrial machinery, cutting tools, abrasives, armor-piercing bullets, and jewelry.

The stiffness of tungsten carbide is about twice that of steel, and Young’s modulus is about 530-700 GPa (77,000 to 102,000 ksi), which is twice the density of steel and is almost between lead and gold. Its hardness is comparable to that of corundum (α-Al2O3), and only cubic boron nitride and diamond powder, grinding wheels and compounds with high hardness abrasives can be used for polishing and finishing.

Tungsten carbide is a black hexagonal crystal with metallic luster and hardness similar to that of a diamond. It is a good conductor of electricity and heat. Tungsten carbide is insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, but easily soluble in a mixed acid of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid. Pure tungsten carbide is fragile, and if a small amount of titanium, cobalt and other metals are added, the brittleness can be reduced. Tungsten carbide used as a steel cutting tool is often added with titanium carbide, tantalum carbide or their mixture to improve the anti-knock ability. Tungsten carbide is chemically stable. Tungsten carbide powder is used in cemented carbide production materials. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Tungsten Carbide WC Powder in bulk.

How is Tungsten Carbide WC Powder produced?
Using metal tungsten and carbon as raw materials, tungsten powder with an average particle size of 3 to 5 μm and carbon black of the same amount are dry mixed with a ball mill, fully mixed, press-molded, and placed into a graphite plate, and then placed in a graphite resistance furnace Or it can be heated to 14001700℃ in an induction furnace, preferably 15501650℃. In the hydrogen stream, W2C is initially produced and continues to react at high temperatures to produce WC. Or firstly, tungsten hexacarbonyl is thermally decomposed at 650-1000°C in the CO atmosphere to obtain tungsten powder, and then reacted with carbon monoxide at 1150°C to obtain WC. Temperatures higher than this temperature can generate W2C.
Chemical reaction formula:
2W + C = W2C
W + C = WC
Tungsten trioxide WO3 is hydrogenated and reduced to prepare tungsten powder (average particle size 35μm). Then, the mixture of tungsten powder and carbon black in an equimolar ratio (dry-blended with a ball mill for about 10 hours) is press-formed under a pressure of about 1t/cm2. Put the pressurized material block into a graphite pan or crucible, and heat it to 14001700℃ (preferably 15501650) in a hydrogen stream (using pure hydrogen with a dew point of -35℃) using a graphite resistance furnace or an induction electric furnace ℃), carburizing will produce WC. The reaction starts from around the tungsten particles, because W2C is generated at the beginning of the reaction, and because the reaction is incomplete (mainly because the reaction temperature is low), unreacted W and intermediate W2C remain in addition to WC. Therefore, it must be heated to the above-mentioned high temperature. The maximum temperature should be determined according to the particle size of raw tungsten. For coarse particles with an average particle size of about 150 μm, the reaction proceeds at a high temperature of 1550 to 1650°C.
Chemical reaction formula:
WO3 + 3H2 → W + 3H2O
2WO3 + 3C → 2W + 3CO2
2W + C = W2C
W + C = WC

Niobium Carbide NbC Powder CAS 12069-94-2

About Niobium Carbide NbC Powder:
Niobium carbide (NbC) is an extremely hard refractory ceramic material used commercially for cutting tools. It is usually processed by sintering and is commonly used as a grain growth inhibitor additive in cemented carbides. Appearance is brown-gray metal powder, with purple luster. It is highly corrosion-resistant. Niobium carbide is one of the hardest technical compounds known. Niobium carbide, which has Young’s modulus of about 452 GPa, is a common product in micro-alloy steels because of its extremely low solubility in austenite, which is the lowest of all refractory metal carbides. This means that the micron-sized NbC precipitates are almost insoluble in the steel at all processing temperatures, and their location at grain boundaries helps prevent excessive grain growth in these steels. This is also a huge benefit for the base of micro-alloyed steel, as it is uniform and has a very fine grain size, ensuring toughness and strength. Tungstenmolybdenummetals is a trusted global Niobium Carbide NbC Powder supplier. Is tantalum carbide coating widely used?

What is tantalum-carbide?
Tantalum carbonide is an metallic cubic crystalline powder which forms a binary compound family with tantalum or carbon. They are extremely tough, fragile, and refractory ceramic material with metallic conductivity. They are typically sintered to make brownish-gray, powdery forms. This belongs to the sodium-chloride cubic crystal type. Presently, tantalum carbide is used in cemented carbide sintered as a grain growth inhibitor. This significantly slows down grain growth and has a density at 14.3g/cm3.

What are the characteristics of tantalum caride?
Molecular weight: 192.956 It is a light metallic cubic-crystalline powder that belongs to the sodium chloride type cubic cristal system. Insoluble in water; insoluble or inorganic inorganic acid. Soluble in the mixture of hydrofluoric acid (nitric acid) and decomposable. This substance is highly resistant to oxygen and melts quickly when dissolved in potassium pyrosulfate. It has high conductivity. The resistance to 30O at room temperatures is very low, which shows superconductivity.

What does tantalum carbide do?
The most common material used in human life, carbon is high-temperature resistant, thermal conductivity, chemical stability and good heat resistance. These attributes make it a key component of daily life and in the future development and application of science, technology and engineering. A crucible made from graphite has a critical role in preparation of silicon carbide crystals through physical vapor transmission. However, graphite crystal growth cannot be done directly because of corrosion on the crucible’s wall due to high temperatures. Tantalum carbide can be coated on graphite to solve this problem. Tantalum carbide, a ceramic material can be produced by reacting tantalum-containing materials with carbon at high temperature. Due to its high melting points and chemical stability, Tantalum carbide is very resistant to the corrosion of many chemical substances at high temperature. As a coating for graphitecrucibles, it is able to protect, enhance the quality of crystals, reduce production costs, and increase reuse rates.
Due to tantalum carbide’s brittleness, and the differences in the thermal expansion coefficient, between the coating or the carbon matrix, there is a weak bond between the layers. The product will have visible cracks and even slippage from the carbon matrix when it is prepared or used, which can lead to poor quality. High adhesion coatings are therefore essential.

The cost of tantalum carbide
Many factors affect the market value of tantalum-carbide. The market price of tantalum carbide is changing rapidly at the moment. You can contact us anytime if you require it.

Why Hafnium Carbide Can Form Solid Solution with Many Compounds?

What is Hafnium Carbide? Hafnium carbide This gray solid needs to be stored at room temperature. Hafnium carbonide is capable of forming a solid solution when mixed with other compounds such as ZrC or TaC. One example is that of a composite carbide with HfC-4TaC. It has two phases. One is the eutectic form of hafnium carbonide tantalum caride. The other is a needle-like, free graphite phase. You can use it as the throat material for a rocket tube. Hafnium carbide is made usually from hafnium oxide (HfO2), carbon and an inert- or reducing atmosphere. It is heated to 1900°C. Hafnium carbonide can be combined with other compounds such as ZrC or TaC to form solid solutions. ).

Introduction to Hafnium
Hafnium is often found in nature alongside zirconium. Zirconium minerals that contain hafnium all include zirconium. Hafnium, zirconium, and both are very similar. In stone, beryllium zircon may contain as much as 15% HfO2. Metamorphic zircon can also contain more than 5% HfO2. Both of these minerals do not have much reserves so they are rarely used in industry. Hafnium can be mainly extracted from zirconium. To avoid accidental combustion, sponge hafnium must be carefully removed from the crucible. You should break large pieces of sponge hafnium down into small, manageable pieces. These can be used to make consumable electrodes and to melt and form an ingot. Sponge hafnium should not be subject to spontaneous combustion when crushed. Further purification of sponge haffnium follows the same procedure as for titanium and zirconium using the iodide-thermal decomposition process. Zirconium has slightly different control conditions. Keep the sponge hafnium blocks in close proximity to the iodization tanks at 600. The temperature at the centre of the hot wire is 1600, which is much higher than 1300 for making zirconium “crystalrods.” Forging, extrusion and tube drawing are some of the steps involved in molding hafnium.

Hafnium carbide’s main uses
It is used primarily to produce control rods for nuclear power plants. Pure hafnium, which is a plastic material, can be processed at high temperatures and resists corrosion. It’s an important component of the atomic energy sector. Hafnium, which has a high thermal neutron capture cross section, is an excellent neutron absorber. This can also be used to protect atomic reactors and as a control rod. Hafnium can also be used to propel rockets. The cathode of Xray tubes can be made from it in the electrical sector. Hafnium and other alloys can be used for the protection of frontal layers on rocket nozzles as well as glide reentry airplanes. HfT alloys can also be used in the manufacture of tool steels or resistance materials. Hafnium, an additive element, is used in heat-resistant alloys like tungsten and molybdenum. HfC, due to its high melting point and hardness, can be added to cemented carbides. 4TaC *HfC’s melting point is approximately 4215. This compound has the highest melting points.

Hafnium Carbide: Price
Hafnium Carbide’s purity and particle size will impact the price. The purchase volume may also have an effect on the price. Large quantities of smaller amounts will result in a lower price. On our official website, you can see the price for Hafnium Carbide.
